If you've finished a ride and the app isn't showing your stats, work through this guide in order. Most issues are fixed in under a minute.

Before you start, confirm the basics

  1. You are signed in to the app with the same account as on previous rides.
  2. Your light was on and connected via the app during the ride (see: How do I know if I'm collecting data?).
  3. You turned the light on via the app — pressing only the physical button may not establish a recording session. The light needs to be on AND connected through the app for a ride to record.

iPhone

  • Background App Refresh: Settings → General → Background App Refresh → See.Sense → on.
  • Low Power Mode turns Background App Refresh off silently. Switch Low Power Mode off for a test ride.
  • Location: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → See.Sense → Always.

Android — all phones

  • Location: Settings → Apps → See.Sense → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time.
  • Nearby Devices (Android 12+): Settings → Apps → See.Sense → Permissions → Nearby Devices → Allow.
  • Battery optimisation: follow your phone-specific section below.

Samsung (OneUI 6 and 7 — S23, S24, S25, A55, A15 and similar)

Both of these are needed:

  1. Settings → Battery → Background usage limits → Never sleeping appsAdd → See.Sense.
  2. Settings → Apps → See.Sense → Battery → Unrestricted.

(On older OneUI 4 / 5 the wording is slightly different; the goal is the same — stop Samsung killing the app when the screen is off.)

Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO (MIUI and HyperOS)

Xiaomi phones are particularly aggressive about killing apps. Three toggles are usually all needed:

  1. Settings → Battery → App battery saver → See.Sense → No restrictions.
  2. Settings → Apps → Manage apps → See.Sense → Autostart on.
  3. Settings → Apps → Manage apps → See.Sense → Other permissions → Display pop-up windows while running in the background on.

OnePlus (OxygenOS)

  • Settings → Apps → See.Sense → Battery usage → Allow background activity and Don't optimise.

Pixel (stock Android)

  • Settings → Apps → See.Sense → Battery → Unrestricted.

Huawei (EMUI)

  • Settings → Battery → App launch → See.Sense → disable Manage automatically, then enable all three (Auto-launch, Secondary launch, Run in background).

I've done all of this and rides still aren't recording

  • Double-check that the light was on — not just that the app was open — throughout the whole ride.
  • Open the app once during a ride. If the light reconnects within a few seconds, the earlier session dropped. See: My light is connected but my ride isn't recording.
  • Open a ticket with the in-app Report button (Settings → Report an issue). Include your phone model, OS version and a description of your last ride. We'll look at your account directly.
